adidas predator precision Adidas sues Skechers
Adidas America Inc. on Monday sued Skechers USA Inc. for alleged knock off sneakers.
The company, which has its North American headquarters in Portland, claims Skechers is selling shoes that infringe on a patent it holds for an outsole made up of individual blades, known as Springblade.
“We will not stand by and allow others to blatantly copy our products and infringe on our valuable intellectual property,” Adidas said, in a statement. “These shameless imitations tarnish the reputation of our brand and our people who work tirelessly to research and develop technical innovations and designs that help athletes make a difference.”
Skechers did not immediately return a message. The company typically does not comment on legal issues.
Adidas wants a federal judge to order Skechers to immediate stop selling the allegedly infringing shoes. It also seeks damages, including lost profits.
