KATHRYN Simpson breathless enthusiasm for her business is infectious and refreshing.

The self confessed shoe aholic who can people for days in her Nambour shop just to talk about the footwear she sells, has been in business barely nine months and she is flying.
The Sole Haven Shoes store opposite Nambour Hospital specialises in larger shoe sizes and is owned by Kathryn and her three sisters.
They have had to expand their range to cater for an ever increasing customer base that ranges in age from 11 to 80. They received national media exposure when the world tallest model Amazon Eve stopped by for an in store appearance and customers from all over Australia and New Zealand make special trips to the store driven only by word of mouth or the Facebook page.
has been fantastic, I just love it and I am so enthusiastic about it, she said.

we had Amazon Eve visit it was picked up everywhere, and we had a mention on Sunrise, so that helped. People would come in and say they saw me on TV.
had two women come in over Christmas who were visiting their mum in Brisbane but drove up here especially to get shoes.
lady flew over from Auckland and she planned her entire holiday around a visit to my shop.
stayed in Maroochydore and caught a bus to Nambour. The driver asked her why she was going there and she told him it was because she wanted to go to Sole Haven. It incredible.
The next big hurdle is creating a website with an online shop, something that will satisfy keen customers who have been asking for it for six months.
do a few phone sales and I send shoes to Perth but I held back on the website because I needed to stay true to the business plan and make sure the foundation was right.

and I wanted supply to be reliable and suppliers to be consistent.
hope to have a website up and running by March or April.
Ms Simpson said the secret to her success, apart from loving the industry and interacting with customers, was finding a good accountant and bookkeeper a duty filled by her brother in law.
The four women also shoulder the business demands equally.
ultimate dream is to design shoes myself and have them made. It will be a huge challenge, but I am already thinking of a name for them.
is still a gap in the market and there are not enough suppliers making larger shoes. Most of my stock has to come from Europe and the US.
